The European regulations that make the EPD essential.

Beyond national rules, three European texts turn verified environmental data into an obligation. The common thread: all of them rely, directly or indirectly, on the Life Cycle Assessment you have already carried out for your EPDs.

01

ESPR & Passeport Numérique Produit (DPP)

The ESPR regulation (EU 2024/1781) establishes the Digital Product Passport: a digital environmental identity card, mandatory by product family according to a schedule of delegated acts. First binding deadlines: batteries (18 February 2027), permanent magnets (24 May 2027); electronics and IT are expected around 2029-2030. The data required (impacts, durability, repairability, recycled content) largely overlaps with that of an EPD. This is the key point: the LCA you carry out today for your EPDs feeds directly into your future DPP. Anticipating means avoiding having to do everything in a rush in 2027-2029.

02

Revised CPR (Construction Products Regulation)

The revision of the CPR is progressively incorporating environmental performance and declaration requirements for construction products, including equipment integrated into the building. The EPD (EN 15804+A2) is becoming the natural medium for these declarations.

03

CSRD & bilan carbone

The CSRD imposes sustainability reporting on the companies concerned, with a portion of data derived from the impact of products (scope 3). The product LCAs you carry out for your EPDs can be reused to feed this reporting: the same data, several uses.
